Firefighter Body Burden Study
Firefighters have significantly elevated rates of multiple myeloma, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, prostate, and testicular cancer. These four types of cancer can be related to exposure to dioxins and/or furans.
The Green Science Policy Institute is helping firefighters to measure levels of dioxins, furans and other toxics that they are exposed to while fighting fires to see if these could be contributing to their increased cancer incidence.
